“Roger Powell tuned our piano the last time it was tuned, and we were very pleased with the results and his professionalism. Roger was courteous, on time, diligent in his work, and the piano sounded great. He made the appointment very quickly, and then came to our home and did his work while I continued with my home schooling nearby. We would recommend Roger to anyone.”

“I am very happy to recommend Roger Powell as a piano tuner. I just had him tune three pianos in our church and he did an excellent job. It is obvious he knows what he is doing. He takes the time that is needed and is not in a hurry. I am very pleased with his business and the way he goes about it.”

Philosophy
The emphasis of our instrumental lessons will have an extensive study of the classics with adequate attention given to music theory. We also offer to students an emphasis on sacred literature appropriate for the given instrument of study.
As born-again Christians we believe that all music is made “for the glory of God,” as stated by Johan Sebastian Bach.
We do not incorporate into our lessons the use of pop, jazz, blues or rock music.
Care for Your Piano
- Have your piano tuned regularly. Experts recommend that you have your piano tuned twice a year.
- Avoid placing your piano next to an outside wall, fireplace or ductwork. Changes in temperature and humidity damage the inner workings of a piano.
- Keep your piano clean inside and out. Dust will cause parts to wear out over time. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines for care of the external surfaces. A vacuum cleaner with a hose works well for cleaning out the interior.
- Avoid using the music rack and other flat surfaces as a table or for storage. Never place food or beverages on the piano. Pens, rubber bands, paper clips, etc. can fall into the piano, restricting proper function and causing damage.
Benefits of Music Lessons
- Personal enjoyment. With the right teacher taking music lessons can be a fun hobby.
- Personal discipline. Scheduling private lessons and personal practice time helps develop good habits.
- Confidence building. As students see weekly progress, they gain a sense of personal accomplishment.
- Intellectual encouragement. Musical studies often improve a student’s efforts in other intellectual fields.
Practice Tips
- Have a regularly set time and schedule for personal rehearsal. Have both a beginning and ending time. Make a list of the selections you want to practice with goals of what you want to accomplish.
- If possible, have a secluded rehearsal room. Distractions and disturbances ruin productive practice.
- Don't be discouraged. Some selections need hours of practice before you master them. If you don’t achieve your goals after a reasonable amount of time, ask your teacher about simplifying or changing your music.
- Reward yourself! Everyone likes prizes for reaching goals.
